Ramisera Wilds is a boutique forest retreat in Uttarakhand, designed as a series of lightweight A-frame rest houses that sit gently within the landscape of the Kalagarh Tiger Reserve.

Context
Set within the forest landscape of the Kalagarh Tiger Reserve, Ramisera Wilds was conceived as a retreat where the experience of wildlife, river, forest and changing seasons remained central. The site demanded a light-touch approach, with as little permanent intervention as possible. Rather than treating the resort as a conventional built object, the brief called for accommodation that could offer comfort and expansive views while remaining sensitive to the ecological character of the place.
Response
The project takes the form of prefabricated A-frame rest houses, conceived as a contemporary interpretation of the traditional British-era forest rest house. A fabricated metal structure and insulated sandwich panels allow much of the construction to remain lightweight and reversible, reducing disturbance to the site. Large glazed facades are oriented primarily to the north and south, opening the rooms toward the landscape while limiting harsh east and west sun. Inside, coloured oxide floors and exposed roof panels keep the spaces simple and heighten the sense of volume. The structures can be dismantled and removed, allowing the land to be reclaimed by the forest over time.
